The number of foreign tourists in Almaty has surpassed pre-pandemic levels
According to the city administration’s press service citing the Bureau of National Statistics, last year witnessed 2,038,417 visitors to Almaty, marking a 12.6% increase compared to 2022 and a significant surge of 52.7% compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
The number of foreign tourists in Almaty saw a notable increase of 29.5%, reaching 540,744 individuals, positioning Almaty as a frontrunner among other Kazakh cities. In comparison to 2019, this figure surged by 24.1%.
This uptick in tourism has spurred a 47.7% rise in investments and a 64% growth in tax revenue, underscoring the burgeoning appeal of Almaty as a tourist destination.
The escalating demand for tourism services and infrastructure is attracting investors, fostering the creation of new employment opportunities, and driving improvements in service provision.(Source:astanatimes)
