Kazakhstan Plans to Establish Anti-Fraud Center

During a meeting with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on March 13, National Bank Governor Timur Suleimenov revealed intentions to create an anti-fraud center aimed at safeguarding Kazakh citizens' funds from fraudulent schemes, as per the Akorda press service.

During the meeting, Governor Timur Suleimenov briefed President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the National Bank's monetary policy execution throughout 2023 and the initial months of 2024, highlighting forthcoming strategies. He emphasized leveraging the digital tenge's potential to heighten transparency and efficiency in government procurement and budget spending.

Suleimenov addressed the deceleration of annual inflation and persistent pro-inflationary factors. Updates were provided on assets within the Unified Accumulative Pension Fund, gold and foreign exchange reserves, and advancements in the National Fund for Children initiative. Additionally, he discussed efforts to amplify financing for the real economy in accordance with presidential directives, along with ongoing projects to bolster the National Payment System and integrate open banking principles.
