Kazakhstan has attracted over $12 billion in investments through the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), surpassing its 2025 target

The Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) has attracted more than $12 billion in investments, surpassing the target set for 2025. This achievement was revealed during a meeting on July 31 between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and AIFC Governor Renat Bekturov, which focused on the AIFC’s key results for the first half of 2024 and future plans.

According to the Akorda press service, Bekturov reported that the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) has contributed 115 billion tenge (US$242 million) to Kazakhstan's national budget since its inception in 2018. Of this amount, 29.8 billion tenge (US$62.6 million) was collected in the first half of 2024. The increase in tax revenues is attributed to the growing number of AIFC participants and their intensified activities.

In the first half of 2024, over 500 new companies joined the AIFC, raising the total number of participants to nearly 3,000 and generating more than 7,600 jobs by the end of Q2 2024.

President Tokayev was briefed on support measures for the AIFC business community. The first AIFC Community event occurred in June, and preparations are underway for the annual Astana Finance Days 2024 in early September.

Tokayev emphasized the need for government agencies and financial institutions to enhance efforts in attracting investments using AIFC infrastructure. He outlined tasks for further development of the center and stressed the importance of coordinated actions to fully realize the AIFC’s potential.(Source:astanatimes)
