Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the European Union reached $44.2 billion from January to November 2024, a 17.7% increase compared to 2023, according to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry on Jan. 21. Exports accounted for $34.6 billion, while imports totaled $9.6 billion.
At a briefing with EU diplomats, Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vassilenko highlighted Kazakhstan’s focus on enhancing economic cooperation, expanding transport connectivity in Central Asia, and strengthening ties with key partners like Russia, China, and the U.S.
Vassilenko stressed the importance of implementing agreements on trade, investment, logistics, green energy, and critical raw materials, alongside easing EU visa requirements for Kazakh citizens.
Since 2005, EU investments in Kazakhstan have totaled $180 billion, with over 3,000 European-funded companies operating in the country.
“The past year was very productive for the development of our relations with the EU and its member states. We are confident that by making new efforts, we will be able to make 2025 even more successful for our relations, and further strengthen our friendly and mutually beneficial ties,” he said.
