Kazakhstan and China Strengthen Cooperation on Middle Corridor Development

Kazakhstan and China are enhancing collaboration on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) to secure supply chains between Asia and Europe. Construction of the Ayagoz-Tacheng railway and a third border railway checkpoint is underway, announced Maulen Ashimbayev, chairman of the Kazakh Senate, during an official visit to China on Jan. 13.

Ashimbayev held discussions with Zhao Leji, chairman of China’s National People’s Congress, on investment projects in industry, energy, transport, green economy, and agriculture. In a meeting with Wang Huning, chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, he supported China’s global initiatives for sustainable development and peace.

The meetings also highlighted Kazakhstan’s political and socio-economic reforms and legislative advancements. Wang Huning reaffirmed China's commitment to strengthening bilateral and international cooperation with Kazakhstan.
