KIA Announces Plans to Build Auto Parts Plant in Kazakhstan

Kia Motors Corporation plans to establish an auto parts plant in Kazakhstan, as announced by Kia President Ho-sung Song during a meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on April 23, as reported by the Akorda press service.

According to Song, Kia has entered into an agreement with global suppliers of automotive components. He also provided updates on the construction progress of a full-cycle car production plant in Kostanai, slated for completion in 2025.

With investments totaling over 90 billion tenge (US$203.7 million), the project aims to employ 1,500 individuals. The plant's annual production target is set at 70,000 cars, including 50,000 units manufactured through the small-unit assembly approach, incorporating a higher proportion of locally sourced components.

President Tokayev expressed appreciation for Kia's decision to localize auto component production in Kazakhstan. He stressed the importance of training domestic skilled professionals to foster industry development, emphasizing that the advancement of the automotive sector aligns with Kazakhstan's industrial policy objectives.(Source:astanatimes)
