KMG’s Dunga Oilfield Surpasses 9 Million Tons in Cumulative Production

Kazakhstan’s Dunga oilfield has reached a significant production milestone, with cumulative output exceeding 9 million tons of oil since the commencement of operations, according to a statement released by the national oil and gas company KazMunayGas (KMG) on August 1.

The field is operated by Dunga Operating GmbH, in which KMG holds a 60% ownership stake.

Located in the Tupkaragan district of the Mangystau Region, the Dunga field produced 340,000 tons of oil in the first half of 2025, surpassing the planned target by more than 7,000 tons. In 2024, total production amounted to 630,000 tons, while the production target for the current year is set at 649,300 tons.

KMG attributed the consistent increase in production and the achievement of the 9-million-ton milestone to the successful restoration and operation of the reservoir pressure maintenance system.
