Kazakhstan Reports Growth in Oil, Gas, and Renewable Energy Output

Kazakhstan recorded a significant increase in oil, gas, and renewable energy production in January–September 2025, Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov reported at a government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.

Oil and gas condensate output reached 75.7 million tons, or 113.2% of the level recorded during the same period in 2024. The annual target for 2025 is 96.2 million tons. Oil exports totaled 60.5 million tons, or 114.9% compared to last year, with a target of 70.5 million tons.

In the gas sector, production amounted to 51.6 billion cubic meters, up 16.7% year-on-year, with a planned 62.8 billion cubic meters by year-end. Domestic gas consumption reached 14.3 billion cubic meters, maintaining stable demand. LPG output stood at 2.3 million tons, up 1.1%, while gas transit volumes totaled 53 billion cubic meters.

From January to September, petroleum product output reached 11.6 million tons (110.1%), with the full-year plan set at 13.7 million tons. Petrochemical production rose to 477,200 tons, representing 115.8% of the previous year’s level.

In the power sector, Kazakhstan generated 89.9 billion kWh of electricity (102.5%), with the annual target at 117.9 billion kWh. Output from renewable energy sources totaled 6.5 billion kWh, marking an 11.9% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
