Kazakhstan is ready to increase exports of 105 commodity items to Belarus, valued at approximately $265 million, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov said at a meeting with Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko in Minsk on June 3, reported the Prime Minister’s press service.
The value of bilateral commerce between Belarus and Kazakhstan was $912 million in the previous year. With 11 projects worth more than $200 million and 1,600 jobs created for the manufacture of tractors, combines, and other equipment, both nations saw agricultural machinery as a key area of cooperation.
Bektenov highlighted the need of supplying the populace with wholesome and safe food in his speech during the Food Security of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) plenary session. Kazakhstan, a significant grain and wheat producer in Central Asia, makes use of its agricultural potential to maintain the stability of the world's food supply.
It is one of the top 25 food exporters in the world, sending agricultural products to 80 nations, including those in Central Asia and the Eastern and Southern Union. Kazakhstan's agricultural exports have doubled to $5.4 billion during the last five years.
Bektenov emphasized that the growth of the agro-industrial complex is one of the nation's strategic priorities.
“Establishing close cooperative ties to produce competitive, environmentally friendly, and export-oriented products meeting advanced international standards should be one of our priority tasks. Prospects are expanded through the development of new logistics directions via Central Asia and increasing the capacity of existing routes to China,” he said. (Source:astanatimes)
