Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Address Transport Cooperation Priorities

Kazakh Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev held discussions with Uzbek Minister of Transport Ilhom Makhkamov to explore avenues for cooperation and its progress, according to the Kazakh ministry's press service on May 11.

At the meeting, they discussed the progress of collaborative initiatives focusing on international transport corridors, railway and road transport development, and infrastructure construction. One significant project highlighted was the construction of a new railway line, Darbaza – Maktaaral, aimed at boosting throughput capacity between the two countries by an additional 10 million tons.

“The volume of export-import transportation by road over the past year increased by 6% and reached 1.8 million tons. There is generally a good dynamic in the growth of collaboration in road transportation,” said Karabayev.(Source:astanatimes)
