Kazakhstan and Türkiye simplify goods transportation

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev officially ratified an agreement on international combined transport of goods between Kazakhstan and Turkey on May 6, according to the Akorda press service.

The newly ratified law signifies a significant milestone in the cooperative efforts between Kazakhstan and Turkey, aimed at strengthening bilateral trade and transportation ties. The agreement aims to facilitate increased cargo flow through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, Caspian Sea ports, and the international transit corridor Western Europe – Western China, thereby boosting trade turnover between the two countries.

The agreement, which was ratified by the Mazhilis (lower house of the Kazakh Parliament) in February, demonstrates legislative support for enhancing transit activities between Kazakhstan and Turkey. Kazakh Transport Minister Marat Karabayev emphasized the agreement's objective to promote the development of road, rail, and water transport systems.

During Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov’s recent visit to Ankara, Kazakhstan and Turkey reaffirmed their commitment to fostering cooperation across various sectors. As one of Kazakhstan’s top five trading partners and among the top 20 investor countries, Turkey aims to maintain a robust trade volume, targeting a minimum of $10 billion. Kazakhstan reciprocates this commitment by aiming to increase exports to Turkey, covering 34 categories of goods valued at over $630 million, spanning metallurgy, petrochemicals, food, and engineering sectors.(Source:astanatimes)
