Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Alibek Kuantyrov met with a Nigerian business delegation on Feb. 6 to discuss expanding trade, investment, and economic cooperation. Talks covered mining, agriculture, transport, IT, and energy, alongside strengthening political dialogue.
Both sides highlighted the importance of Kazakhstan-Nigeria relations, referencing President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s recent meeting with Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Nigeria reaffirmed its interest in deepening ties, recognizing Kazakhstan as a strategic partner in Central Asia.
“Kazakhstan and Nigeria have significant potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in key economic sectors. We are ready to expand trade ties, jointly develop infrastructure and investment projects, and deepen political dialogue. I am confident that our efforts will strengthen our partnership and create new opportunities for business and growth in both countries,” he said.
Discussions also addressed infrastructure development and Kazakhstan’s role in international transport corridors linking Asia and Africa. A Kazakh delegation is set to visit Nigeria in February 2025 to explore further cooperation in key sectors.
