On April 15, an international passenger air route commenced operations between the Chinese city of Yining in the Ili-Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) and Kazakhstan's city of Almaty, as reported by Xinhua.
Flights on this route will operate once a week, providing a new link between Yining and Almaty.
Yining now stands as the third international air hub in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, alongside Urumqi and Kashgar. The inauguration of this route is anticipated to contribute to the development of a more accessible and seamless Air Silk Road, facilitating air freight services across various routes between China and Europe.
In parallel, Kazakhstan's flag carrier, Air Astana, has transitioned to its summer flight schedule. It will resume direct international flights from Astana to Seoul and domestic flights from Astana to Kostanai.
“Seasonal flights from Astana and Almaty to Montenegro’s capital, Podgorica, will operate three times a week, together with flights at the same frequency from Astana to Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi and from Almaty to Heraklion in Crete,” said the airline’s press service.(Source:astanatimes)
