As part of his working visit to Vienna, Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu engaged in bilateral discussions with Austrian Minister for European and International Affairs Alexander Schallenberg on March 14, as per the ministry’s press release.
The ministers discussed enhancing political cooperation, shared support for landlocked countries, and collaboration on promoting the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. They also explored avenues for bolstering economic ties, attracting investments, facilitating visa processes, and advancing cooperation in transit, transport, and renewable energy.
Both sides emphasized the significance of strengthening business links, agreeing to facilitate mutual visits of business delegations. Bilateral trade turnover surged by 64% in 2023, reaching $332.6 million, with Austria's investments in Kazakhstan totaling $3 billion since 2005. Acknowledging the region's growing importance, they committed to maintaining close contact and effective collaboration within international forums.
