Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia May Meet in Almaty for Peace Treaty Negotiations

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev revealed in a telephone conversation with United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken on April 28, as reported by President Aliyev’s press office, that the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia are scheduled to meet soon in Almaty, following Kazakhstan’s proposal. This meeting aims to advance negotiations on the peace treaty.

Blinken extended congratulations to Armenia and Azerbaijan for their recent agreement on border delimitation, expressing the commendation of the United States for this significant development.

President Aliyev highlighted that the agreement reached by the delimitation commission of both countries stemmed from bilateral discussions characterized by a spirit of dialogue and mutual understanding. He emphasized the commencement of demarcation work along the border following the delimitation process as a positive step forward.

Reaffirming Azerbaijan’s role as the initiator of the peace treaty and its underlying five principles, President Aliyev emphasized the country’s strong political determination to advance the peace agenda. He underscored Azerbaijan’s support for establishing an integrated South Caucasus regional cooperation model, free from dividing lines.

During a recent official visit to Yerevan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev urged for a swift resolution of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and announced Kazakhstan’s readiness to facilitate negotiations by providing a platform for dialogue.(Source:astanatimes)
