The Civil Aviation Committee of the Kazakh Transport Ministry reported on April 4 that the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan JSC has signed an agreement with the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This agreement outlines the conduct of a preliminary International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) as part of the preparations for launching direct flights between the two countries.
The agreement outlines a collaborative approach to the IASA pre-assessment process, incorporating information exchange, technical assistance, and capacity-building activities. Its primary objective is to strengthen cooperation between both parties to enhance flight safety levels in Kazakhstan.
The preliminary assessment conducted by IASA aims to secure Category 1 status from the FAA in the future. This designation would enable Kazakh airlines to initiate direct flights between Kazakhstan and the United States, contingent upon the availability of appropriate aircraft.
This agreement underscores the dedication of Kazakh aviation authorities to upholding the highest standards of aviation safety. Furthermore, it is expected to foster expanded ties and economic opportunities between Kazakhstan and the United States.
Kazakhstan is poised to launch flights to Mumbai, New York, Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo between 2024 and 2025.(Source:astanatimes)
