Kazakhstan will establish the National Center for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Astana by next year, as announced by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during his annual state-of-the-nation address on September 2, according to the Akorda press service. The center will be open to schoolchildren, students, researchers, and entrepreneurs.
“Kazakhstan must consolidate its achievements in digitalization. We need to integrate artificial intelligence technologies into the electronic government platform. Kazakhstan should become a leader in the widespread adoption of AI and the development of digital technologies. This is a priority task for the government, and I urge the members of Parliament to support this initiative,” he added.(Source:astanatimes)
Tokayev also emphasized the need to enhance the regulatory framework for digital assets and mining, and to further develop cryptocurrency exchanges. He expressed concerns about entrepreneurs who use substantial amounts of electricity without contributing sufficiently to the economy through taxes and highlighted the necessity to address this issue.
In his address, Tokayev underscored the importance of the project to establish a fiber-optic communication line across the Caspian Sea, set for completion in 2025. He noted that this project is crucial for Kazakhstan, as it will play a significant role in building a robust digital infrastructure that supports international corridors and cross-border data flows.
The President concluded by stressing the importance of advancing telecommunications networks, improving data centers, implementing global cybersecurity standards, and enhancing the skills of Kazakh specialists in these areas.
