Nearly two million tourists visited Kazakhstan’s national parks in the first seven months of 2025, reflecting growing public interest in nature and conservation, the Kazakh Tourism national company reported.
Leading the rankings, Burabai State National Nature Park in Akmola Region hosted over 600,000 visitors. Known as the “Switzerland of Kazakhstan” for its pine forests, lakes, and rock formations, the park attracts families, outdoor enthusiasts, and wellness tourists. A new gamified eco-trail along the Bolektau slopes recently enhanced hiking experiences.
Ile-Alatau National Park near Almaty welcomed over 500,000 visitors, offering rich biodiversity and mountain trails ideal for ecotourism. Kolsai Lakes National Park, also in the Almaty Region, recorded more than 350,000 visitors, famous for its scenic Kolsai and Kaindy lakes.
Charyn National Park, known for its striking canyon and popular for photo tours and jeep expeditions, ranked fourth, while Bayanaul National Park in Pavlodar Region, noted for its clean lakes and mild climate, was fifth.
The close proximity of Almaty-area parks allows visitors to explore multiple sites within a single week, boosting accessibility and tourism appeal.
