Kazakh Deputy Minister of Trade and Integration Kairat Torebayev stated that the ongoing U.S.-China trade dispute is unlikely to impact Kazakhstan’s market due to differing consumer demands.
“China produces a wide range of goods, but the demand for these products in the United States and Kazakhstan differs significantly. Therefore, we do not anticipate a surge of Chinese products dominating our market,” he said during a briefing in the Mazhilis, a lower house of the Kazakh Parliament, reported Kazinform on Feb. 5.
The ministry has assessed various scenarios and remains unconcerned about potential effects. Torebayev noted that many Chinese manufacturers primarily target the U.S. market, where purchasing power differs significantly from Kazakhstan’s. Additionally, for these products to enter Kazakhstan, they would require new certification and registration, further limiting their redistribution.
“Additionally, it remains uncertain whether there will be sufficient demand for these goods in Kazakhstan,” he said.
