Kazakhstan has taken a significant step toward strengthening regional cooperation by donating five locomotives to the Kyrgyz Republic, the Kazakhstan Agency of International Development (KazAID) announced on March 7.
The donation includes two shunting locomotives and three mainline locomotives, which were transferred to Kyrgyz Temir Jolu, the Kyrgyz Republic’s largest railroad carrier. These locomotives were dispatched from Kazakhstan’s Karatau, Zhem, and Shymkent railroad stations.
This gesture highlights Kazakhstan’s commitment to fostering closer economic and infrastructural ties with its neighboring countries. Through KazAID, the country has been actively engaging in initiatives aimed at enhancing regional cooperation in critical sectors such as transport, energy, and infrastructure.
Kazakhstan’s support is expected to significantly bolster Kyrgyzstan’s railway capacity, improving logistics and transportation efficiency in the region. The collaboration between the two countries reflects their shared goal of promoting sustainable development and regional connectivity.
