Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have agreed to enhance bilateral civil aviation cooperation by increasing the number of flights and expanding designated routes, the Committee of Civil Aviation of Kazakhstan reported on Aug. 15. The agreement follows discussions held within the framework of the Central Asia–China Civil Aviation Cooperation Working Group Conference.
Under the agreement, designated carriers from both countries will be authorized to operate up to 42 weekly flights on the Almaty–Tashkent and Astana–Tashkent routes, while other bilateral routes will permit up to 14 weekly flights.
On July 3, Uzbek airline Centrum Air commenced regular operations on the Aktau–Nukus route with two weekly flights, followed by Kazakhstan’s low-cost carrier FlyArystan launching the Atyrau–Tashkent route on July 15, providing three weekly services. Both sides also agreed to expand the list of designated destinations for regular flights, further strengthening regional connectivity and facilitating passenger and business travel between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
