Kazakhstan and South Korea Increase Weekly Air Travel Frequency

On March 21, Kazakhstan and South Korea's aviation authorities reached an agreement to raise the weekly permitted flights between the two countries from 10 to 42, as announced by the Kazakh Civil Aviation Committee (CAC).

Under the leadership of CAC Chairperson Saltanat Tompiyeva and South Korea’s Civil Aviation Office General Director Yong Kook Kim, an agreement was reached on March 21 to increase the weekly permitted flights between Kazakhstan and South Korea from 10 to 42, with an additional allowance of 40 cargo flights. This expansion encompasses the fifth degree of "freedom of air," easing logistical operations.

The negotiations also resulted in the removal of restrictions on destinations and designated carriers, fostering competition and expanding flight routes between the two countries. Additionally, both parties expressed support for direct flights between Astana and Seoul, following the recent launch of direct flights between Almaty and Kuala Lumpur by the CAC and Malaysia’s Air Asia earlier this month.
