The Kazakh government has allocated 17.3 billion tenge (US$35.5 million) from the Special State Fund, consisting of recovered illegally acquired assets, to finance the construction of a new Kazhymukan Munaitpasov Central Stadium in the capital. The project aims to replace the outdated facility with a modern sports complex.
Constructed in 1936, the old stadium was dismantled due to its unsafe condition. The new facility is scheduled for completion by the end of this year, as reported by the Prime Minister’s press service on March 12.
The upcoming stadium will feature 3,598 seats, including accommodations for individuals with disabilities, and will meet international UEFA standards. Upon completion, it will be transferred to the Specialized Children’s and Youth Sports School of the Olympic Reserve No. 8 under the administration of Astana Akimat.
This new complex is expected to enhance training conditions and boost athletes’ performance by providing optimal preparation facilities.
Beyond the stadium project, over 82 billion tenge (US$168 million) from the Special State Fund has been allocated for 16 socially significant facilities across the country. These include seven schools (one of which is a music school), two sports complexes, a multifunctional hospital, a regional ambulance station, a Center for Special Social Services, a hostel, and two kindergartens. Funds have also been designated for constructing and modernizing water supply systems in the Aralsk district of the Kyzylorda Region.
