The official visit of Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu to Thailand on April 23 led to the signing of an agreement on visa exemption for national passport holders of both countries, as reported by the Foreign Ministry’s press service.
This agreement permits citizens of Kazakhstan and Thailand to remain in each other’s territories without a visa for up to 30 calendar days from the date of entry. It will take effect once the domestic procedures are finalized.
The agreement was signed during a meeting with Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, who identified Kazakhstan as Thailand’s primary partner in Central Asia.
The ministers acknowledged the positive trend in tourism cooperation, citing the increasing number of direct flights between the two countries. In 2023, the number of Kazakh tourists visiting Thailand surged by 2.5 times to 172,000, surpassing the previous year's figures.
During the visit, the ministries of tourism and sports of Kazakhstan and Thailand signed a memorandum of understanding on tourism.
