Kazakh Foreign Minister Engages in Discussions with Major US Corporations in New York

ASTANA — Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu held several meetings with representatives of leading American companies on Sept. 23 in New York to discuss the development of long-term partnerships.

The press service of the foreign ministry reported that during discussions with PepsiCo's leadership, both parties focused on advancing the food industry and boosting Kazakhstan's export potential to enhance the competitiveness of its products in the global market.

In June, PepsiCo initiated the construction of a new plant in the Almaty Region, which will be the largest in Central Asia. This project is expected to significantly contribute to agricultural development in Kazakhstan, increasing farmers' incomes and strengthening the national economy.

In an interview with The Astana Times, David Manzini, president of PepsiCo for Central Asia, Russia, Belarus, and the Caucasus, reiterated the company's commitment to sourcing local raw materials and revealed plans to finalize contracts with Kazakh farmers for initial test batches of potatoes for Lay’s potato chips production.

The meeting with Google centered on expanding cooperation within the Google for Startups program. Both sides agreed to continue their collaborative efforts to promote local startups in international markets and to develop digital infrastructure and an innovation ecosystem in Kazakhstan, particularly through the integration of artificial intelligence and cloud technologies.

Under the Digital Country Partnership (DCP) program, implemented in collaboration with Mastercard, Nurtleu highlighted the significance of their joint efforts in enhancing financial infrastructure and executing fintech solutions to bolster Kazakhstan’s leadership in creating a digital, cashless economy.

During discussions with Citi, the parties reflected on their 30-year partnership, addressing sustainable financing, trade relations improvement, and infrastructure project development. Nurtleu expressed gratitude for the company's contributions to the nation's economic growth and emphasized the need for continued collaboration in attracting foreign investments.(Source:astanatimes)
