Kazakh and Armenian Presidents Tour Astana International Financial Centre

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, who is on an official visit to Kazakhstan, toured the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) on Oct. 16, reported Akorda.

AIFC Governor Renat Bekturov provided the Presidents with an overview of the center’s key activities and its role in advancing regional initiatives. The Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) has successfully attracted over $13 billion to Kazakhstan’s economy, which includes $5.9 billion in portfolio investments through the Astana International Exchange and $7.3 billion from companies operating within the center.

Currently, approximately 3,200 companies from over 80 countries are based at the AIFC, including six prominent Armenian firms specializing in IT, financial services, and insurance.

The Presidents were also briefed on the AIFC's judicial system, which encompasses the operations of the AIFC Court and the International Arbitration Centre, along with the work of the Astana Financial Services Authority. The Authority has established a memorandum of cooperation with Armenia’s Central Bank regarding the supervision and regulation of banking, insurance, and securities markets.
