China, Russia, and Italy remained Kazakhstan’s top foreign trade partners in 2024, according to the Trade and Integration Ministry on May 6.
Kazakhstan’s total exports surpassed \$81 billion, with crude oil accounting for \$42.9 billion, or 52.5%. Other major exports included uranium (\$4.6 billion), copper and cathodes (\$4.1 billion), and copper ores and concentrates (\$3.2 billion), along with ferroalloys, gas, wheat, and petroleum products.
Imports also grew, notably in technology, transport, and pharmaceuticals. Leading categories included passenger cars (\$2.3 billion), aircraft (\$1.8 billion), pharmaceuticals (\$1.7 billion), and telecom equipment.
Early 2025 data indicates sustained trends: January exports reached $4.5 billion, 60% of which was oil, with copper, wheat, uranium, and sunflower oil among other key exports. Imports stood at \$2.8 billion, driven by phones, car bodies, medicines, and construction machinery.
