Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Alibek Bakayev participated in the opening ceremony of the Central Asia-China Secretariat on March 30 in Xian, where the headquarters of the Secretariat is located, as reported by the Foreign Ministry’s press service.
Bakayev emphasized the significance of establishing the secretariat in close cooperation and coordination with regional policies. He recalled that the corresponding agreement was signed during the inaugural China-Central Asia Summit last year, alongside the Xian Declaration.
The two-day summit, led by President Xi Jinping, convened Central Asian leaders to deliberate on bolstering strategic collaboration, particularly in regional economic ties. China inked bilateral agreements with each of the Central Asian states, totaling $22 billion with Kazakhstan alone.
As outlined in the Xian Declaration, China, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan pledged to enhance comprehensive connectivity through infrastructure and soft connectivity via rules and standards within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.(Source:astanatimes)
