Kazakhstan is continuing to expand its international air connectivity through the launch of new direct routes linking Almaty and Shymkent with destinations in Europe and Asia, including Prague, Hanoi, Izmir, and Baku.
VietJet Air announced the launch of direct flights from Almaty to Hanoi and Prague beginning Oct. 10. Both routes will operate twice weekly using Airbus A330 aircraft. According to the airline, the expansion is intended to strengthen transport links between Kazakhstan, Southeast Asia, and Europe, while also providing access to Vietjet’s broader international route network.
According to Vietjet CEO Nguyen Thanh Son, the launch forms part of the airline’s strategy to expand international operations and enhance connectivity between Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and European destinations.
In addition, direct flights between Izmir and Almaty are scheduled to commence on July 31 following negotiations between Kazakhstan’s Consulate General in Izmir and SunExpress. The route will operate twice weekly through the end of October and is expected to improve transport accessibility for tourists, students, business travelers, and Kazakh citizens.
Separately, KazMunayGas-Aero and Azerbaijan Airlines signed an agreement on aircraft refueling services at Shymkent International Airport. Beginning June 16, AZAL will operate regular passenger flights on the Shymkent–Baku route twice a week.
Under the agreement, KazMunayGas-Aero will provide refueling services in accordance with international safety and quality standards. The partnership is aimed at strengthening Kazakhstan’s transport and logistics infrastructure, improving airport competitiveness, and attracting additional international carriers.
