The World Bank has given the green light for a $92.43 million funding allocation towards the Kazakhstan Digital Acceleration Project

The Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank has endorsed a financing package of $92.43 million for the Kazakhstan Digital Acceleration for an Inclusive Economy (DARE) Project, as announced by the bank's press service on February 22.

The project seeks to deliver reliable and climate-resilient broadband connectivity to underserved regions in Kazakhstan, benefiting over one million residents in rural areas.

Amid Kazakhstan's dependence on natural resources and recent socioeconomic difficulties, the DARE Project addresses the growing necessity for robust digital infrastructure. It aligns with the country's 2025 National Development Plan and Digital Kazakhstan State Program, both emphasizing innovation and digitalization as integral components of its developmental vision. Broadband access for all is central to this strategy, aimed at fostering a transition to a more sustainable and competitive economic framework.

“This project is a testament to our commitment to ensuring that every citizen of Kazakhstan can participate in the global digital economy. By providing high-quality broadband access to underserved communities, we are laying the foundation for innovation, education, and economic growth,” said Andrei Mikhnev, World Bank Country Manager for Kazakhstan.(Source:astanatimes)
