Uzbekistan plans to allow Kazakh citizens to enter the country for up to 30 days using only an ID card, according to a May 15 presidential decree aimed at boosting tourism and regional ties.
The proposed changes also apply to citizens of Azerbaijan and Russia, while minors under 16 will be able to cross the border with “kinder passports.” The Uzbek Ministries of Foreign and Internal Affairs have been instructed to launch negotiations within three months to implement the initiative.
The move is part of Uzbekistan’s broader strategy to simplify cross-border travel and attract more visitors. Additionally, from June 1, Uzbekistan will introduce a 30-day visa-free regime for citizens of Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman and streamline the process for issuing 5-year residence permits to attract foreign investors.
