President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Commissioner for Children’s Rights Dinara Zakiyeva on May 23 to assess efforts to strengthen Kazakhstan’s child protection system, according to Akorda.
Zakiyeva reported on 120 proposed legislative amendments, monitoring of 73 settlements, and the identification of 171 legal violations. She highlighted the impact of 112 family support centers and outlined plans to formalize regional child protection departments.
Progress was also made in services for children with special needs, with 49 rehabilitation centers opened in partnership with the Qazaqstan Halqyna Foundation. The meeting addressed online safety and preparations for the Children of Kazakhstan program.
