Tokayev Inspects National Archive and Baiseitova University of Arts Reconstruction

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited the newly constructed President’s Archive on Feb. 14, which has been relocated from Almaty to the capital following his directive. The facility is the first of its kind in Central Asia, serving as both a repository of Kazakhstan’s documentary heritage and a scientific and educational center.

Equipped with 24 storage facilities, the archive houses documents, audiovisual materials, microfilmed archives, and electronic records. It preserves significant historical materials dating back to 1918, covering Kazakhstan’s political evolution, foreign and domestic policies, economic transformations, and cultural development, according to Akorda.

Tokayev also inspected the Baiseitova Kazakh National University of Arts, where a major reconstruction is underway. The expansion added 10,000 square meters, increasing the total area to 38,000 square meters. The modernization includes a 1,100-seat concert hall, a chamber hall for academic music, rehearsal studios, and exhibition galleries for students and guest artists.
