At the invitation of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will pay an official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic on Aug. 22, the Akorda press service announced.
During his visit to Bishkek, President Tokayev will hold high-level talks with President Japarov to discuss strategic issues of bilateral cooperation, with a focus on strengthening the Kazakh-Kyrgyz partnership and further advancing allied relations between the two nations.
The two leaders will also take part in the meeting of the Supreme Intergovernmental Council of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The agenda will include the expansion of collaboration in trade, investment, transport and logistics, water resource management, and other key areas of mutual interest.
Earlier, on Aug. 1 in Cholpon-Ata, President Japarov received Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu to review prospects for enhancing trade and economic cooperation, laying the groundwork for the upcoming talks between the heads of state.
