President Tokayev Honors Heroes of AZAL Plane Crash Rescue

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has awarded Kazakh citizens for their exceptional bravery, professionalism, and civic responsibility in the aftermath of the AZAL plane crash near Aktau on Dec. 25, according to the Akorda on Dec. 29.

Recipients of these prestigious honors include emergency responders, medical personnel, law enforcement, and airport staff.

Key Honorees:

  • Aibyn (Valor) Order, Second Degree:
    Aibek Alibayev, forensic scientist from the Mangystau Police Department.
  • Aibyn Order, Third Degree:
    Serikbolat Ongar, fire department commander of Baskudyk village.
  • Kurmet (Honor) Order:
    Bakytzhan Koybekov, head of the Mangystau Regional Hospital, and Irina Kochergina, head of Aktau International Airport’s medical center.
  • Yerligi Ushin (For Courage) Medal:
    Timur Kisayev, paramedic; Ospan Orazbekov, emergency doctor; Yaroslav Tolstikov, dispatcher; and Nuraly Chopanov, electrical grid master.
  • Yeren Yenbegi Ushin (For Distinguished Labor) Medal:
    Bekbolat Dzhumagulov, deputy airport service head, and Yeldar Urazaliyev, forensic expert.

Additionally, 51 individuals received the Gratitude of the President for their contributions.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev praised the compassion and solidarity demonstrated by Kazakh citizens in his Dec. 29 interview with Az.TV.
