OpenAI Notes Strong AI Adoption in Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan has emerged as one of the leading countries in the region for artificial intelligence adoption, according to analytical insights presented by OpenAI during a recent visit to the country. The findings point to a high level of public readiness to integrate AI technologies into everyday activities and professional work.
According to the data presented, Kazakhstan ranks ahead of other Central Asian countries in per-capita consumer use of ChatGPT, surpassing the Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan. Officials noted that the results reflect growing public interest in artificial intelligence and the active adoption of digital tools across various sectors.
The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in artificial intelligence, including educational initiatives, the implementation of ChatGPT Edu, and measures aimed at strengthening practical AI competencies among students, educators, and professionals.
According to Madiyev, Kazakhstan’s AI development strategy is supported by strong public engagement, with citizens increasingly using artificial intelligence tools for learning, professional tasks, information retrieval, and content creation.
OpenAI data shows that the most common uses of ChatGPT in Kazakhstan are practical guidance (32.8%), writing and editing (25%), and information search (18%). More than 70% of users are between the ages of 18 and 34.
Valerie Focke, Lead for Education across Europe, the Middle East and Africa at OpenAI, noted that ChatGPT adoption in Kazakhstan is high by international standards and emphasized the importance of helping users further expand the practical benefits of artificial intelligence.
As part of a national education initiative, 165,000 educators across Kazakhstan are expected to receive access to ChatGPT Edu through a program implemented in partnership with Bilim Group and Bilim UpSkill. The initiative is aimed at supporting the integration of AI technologies into the country’s education system and strengthening digital skills among educators.
