On September 30, 2009, Nauryz was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, granting global recognition to this holiday celebrated by diverse ethnicities worldwide.

Nauryz is observed as a public holiday in Central Asian nations, Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Mongolia, North Macedonia, and Türkiye, with participation from ethnic communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, China, India, and Iraq, among others. Russian regions like Dagestan, Tatarstan, and Bashkortostan also join in the festivities.
