Kazakhstan’s Vehicle Fleet Reaches 5.5 Million in 2025

The number of registered vehicles in Kazakhstan has reached 5.5 million, more than doubling since the country’s independence 34 years ago, Chairman of the Administrative Police Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Kaysar Sultanbayev announced at a Central Communications Service briefing on Aug. 27.

According to Sultanbayev, the vehicle fleet has grown from 2 million to 5.5 million units, while the population has increased by 3.5 million over the same period. He also noted that approximately 3 million foreign vehicles transit through Kazakhstan annually.

The official highlighted notable improvements in road safety. Road traffic accidents declined from 2,080 to 1,192 cases, with the number of injured decreasing from 26,132 to 16,049. Road fatalities dropped by 8%, from 1,480 to 1,366 deaths.
