Kazakhstan’s E-Commerce Market Approaches $8 Billion in 2025

Kazakhstan’s retail e-commerce market reached nearly 3.8 trillion tenge (US$8 billion) in 2025, according to data released by the Bureau of National Statistics. The figures highlight the continued expansion of online commerce and the growing role of digital marketplaces in the national economy.

Online marketplaces accounted for 3.2 trillion tenge (US$6.7 billion), or 86% of total retail e-commerce turnover, while sales through retailers’ own online platforms amounted to 531.3 billion tenge (US$1.1 billion), representing 14% of the market.

The services segment also demonstrated substantial growth. The volume of e-commerce services reached 2.5 trillion tenge (US$5.2 billion) in 2025. Services provided through marketplaces accounted for 81.8% of the total, while services delivered through independent online platforms represented 18.2%.

Among retail categories, phones and electronic gadgets generated the largest share of marketplace sales, accounting for 17.1% of total turnover. Clothing, footwear, and sporting goods followed with 12.4%, while home and garden products represented 12.1%. Household appliances accounted for 10.3% and food products for 7.4%.

The data indicates that digital marketplaces continue to dominate Kazakhstan’s online retail sector, providing integrated sales, payment, and delivery solutions that attract both consumers and businesses. While independent online stores remain active in the market, the majority of e-commerce transactions are concentrated within large marketplace ecosystems.

The latest statistics reflect broader shifts in consumer behavior, with online platforms increasingly becoming the preferred channel for purchasing goods and services. The expansion of internet access, digital payment systems, and mobile commerce has further supported the sector’s growth.
