Kazakhstan’s Agricultural Output Grows 5.4% as Exports Reach $4.7 Billion

Kazakhstan’s agricultural output increased to 8.1 trillion tenge (US$15.39 billion) in January–October 2025, reflecting a 5.4% rise year-on-year, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed during a meeting with Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov.

Saparov reported that food production grew by 9%, totaling 3.1 trillion tenge (US$5.97 billion), while agricultural exports reached $4.7 billion, indicating continued sectoral growth, according to Akorda.

A comprehensive development plan for the livestock sector is expected to be adopted shortly. The ministry is also advancing digital transformation initiatives, including the creation of an electronic agro-industrial complex (e-AIC). The unified platform will integrate land management, crop production, livestock, aquaculture, and subsidies, linking these components with national information systems.

Kazakhstan continues to expand its presence in global livestock markets, exporting to more than 15 countries across the EAEU, European Union, Gulf states, China, Japan, South Korea, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Mongolia.

Cooperation with China remains active, with veterinary protocols already in place for processed beef, hides, poultry meat, and by-products. Negotiations are ongoing to open the Chinese market for horsemeat, beef, lamb, and pork.

Kazakhstan has also joined the EU’s list of authorized honey exporters and is pursuing new opportunities for exporting horsemeat and aquaculture products, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. A total of 3,702 Kazakh enterprises have been included in foreign export registries. Iraq approved veterinary certificates for cattle and small ruminant meat, while Georgia approved four additional certificates. Azerbaijan authorized imports of fish and beekeeping products, and Iran approved imports of livestock hides.

Further export initiatives include potential shipments of live horses and mare and camel milk to Japan, ice cream to South Korea, and dairy and meat products to Malaysia.

Kazakhstan’s grain exports have also strengthened. Between September and Nov. 13, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy reported 2.6 million tons of new-harvest grain exported, up from 2.2 million tons during the same period last year.

Exports to neighboring countries showed significant increases: shipments to Uzbekistan rose by 41%, from 872,000 to 1,232,000 tons; exports to the Kyrgyz Republic more than doubled, from 32,000 to 73,000 tons; deliveries to Azerbaijan increased by 30%; and exports to Afghanistan grew by 35%.
