Kazakhstan’s Accommodation Sector Registers 12% Increase in Visitor Numbers

Kazakhstan’s accommodation facilities received 7.8 million visitors in January–September, reflecting a 12.4% increase compared to the same period of the previous year.

Almaty recorded the highest number of guests, hosting 1.8 million visitors, while Astana followed with 1.1 million. The Almaty and Akmola Regions each registered 530,000 guests, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics.

Hotels with on-site restaurants remained the most in-demand accommodation type, accounting for 48.6% of all guests. Hotels without restaurants hosted 27%, while cottages, private houses, and apartments ranked third with 14%.

Foreign visitors made up 13.9% of the total. Of these, 53.6% traveled for personal purposes, with the remainder visiting for business.

Kazakhstan currently has 4,499 accommodation facilities offering 95,035 rooms nationwide. Total revenue generated by all accommodation types during the nine-month period reached 268 billion tenge (US$529 million).
