Kazakhstan Urges Stronger Global Cultural Cooperation at UNESCO Conference

Kazakh State Counselor and Chairman of the National Commission for UNESCO and ICESCO Erlan Karin presented President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s modernization initiatives on Oct. 31 at the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, reported Akorda.

Karin outlined Kazakhstan’s vision for advancing global cooperation based on trust, openness, and fairness, emphasizing the need to strengthen collaboration between UNESCO and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO).

He highlighted President Tokayev’s key domestic reforms, focusing on nationwide digitalization and the accelerated adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across economic sectors.

Karin also presented the political modernization agenda, which includes a transition to a unicameral parliament elected through proportional representation, as part of Kazakhstan’s broader efforts to modernize governance and promote inclusive development.
