Kazakhstan Strengthens Trade and Innovation Presence at Shanghai Expo

Kazakhstan secured contracts totaling $120 million for the export of various products, including meat, fat-and-oil goods, dry camel milk, juices, and marmalade at the seventh China International Import Expo (CIIE) held from Nov. 5-10 in Shanghai. This marks a significant increase from last year’s $81 million in contracts, as reported by Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Trade and Integration on Nov. 11.

An innovative highlight was Kazakhstan’s debut in online sales on the TikTok platform. In collaboration with Jiangsu Soho Holdings Group, a streaming event showcased Kazakh products to a global audience, generating sales of 450,000 yuan (US$62,190) over two days.

Kazakhstan’s technological potential was also on display, with Cerebra AI, a stroke-detection software, and Alaqan AI, a palm-vein biometric identification solution, earning first and second place respectively in the 2024 Maker in China competition for Central Asian SMEs.

“The event was an important step in strengthening trade and economic ties between Kazakhstan and China and other countries,” reads the ministry’s statement.

In addition, several important agreements were signed, including a memorandum between the Turkistan Region Tourism Department and Export Bahrain to develop tourism, and an agreement with Kyrgyzstan’s Nomad Art company to promote cultural and tourist exchanges. These initiatives further demonstrate Kazakhstan’s commitment to expanding both trade and technological influence in the global market.
