Kazakhstan is implementing a wide range of measures to enhance safety, transport accessibility, and tourism infrastructure ahead of the upcoming summer tourism season, according to government officials.
The preparations aim to support growing domestic and international tourism flows to key destinations, including the Caspian Sea coast, Lake Alakol, Burabai National Park, and mountain regions in East Kazakhstan.
Speaking at a briefing of the Central Communications Service, Acting Chairman of the Tourism Industry Committee Nurbol Baizhanov stated that the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, together with regional authorities and relevant state agencies, is implementing a comprehensive package of measures focused on safety, infrastructure modernization, and service quality improvements. Authorities have completed inspections in eight key tourism regions, including Alakol Lake, Lake Balkhash, Burabai, the Caspian Sea coastline, and major destinations in East Kazakhstan. As part of ongoing preparations, regions are constructing rescue stations, public beaches, sanitary facilities, and visitor centers, while also strengthening safety systems and expanding video surveillance in resort areas.
Transport accessibility is also being improved to meet expected peak seasonal demand. In the Karaganda Region, development continues on the Balkhash tourism cluster, including airport modernization and the launch of new air routes. The Burabai resort area in the Akmola Region is undergoing infrastructure upgrades, particularly in parking and tourism services.
In the Almaty Region, public beaches in Konaev are being modernized, alongside road improvements and upgrades to national parks. In the Zhetisu Region, access to the Alakol coastline is being improved through expanded air services to Usharal and enhanced rail connectivity. On the Caspian coast, the Mangystau Region is reconstructing beaches and embankments while expanding safety and tourism facilities.
Officials noted that these measures are aimed at improving overall tourist safety, expanding capacity, and enhancing the quality of tourism services ahead of the 2026 summer season.
