Kazakhstan reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing regional and international cooperation in sustainable energy at the third Green Energy Advisory Council ministerial meeting held on April 4 in Baku, chaired by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Deputy Minister of Energy Sungat Yesimkhanov and KEGOC Chair Nabi Aitzhanov represented Kazakhstan at the meeting, which focused on the development of the Green Energy Corridor.
Kazakhstan is actively promoting low-carbon technologies, including the utilization of associated gas and the production of green hydrogen. A key initiative under the recently signed trilateral agreement with Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan is the construction of a submarine high-voltage cable across the Caspian Sea, a critical component of the Green Energy Corridor.
According to KEGOC, this deep-sea power cable will form part of a new regional energy infrastructure to support clean energy transmission and deepen intergovernmental energy collaboration.
The technical specifications for the feasibility study of the cable project were presented at the meeting, with financing expected to come from donor grants.
