Kazakhstan is set to manufacture state-of-the-art solar panels

Kazakhstan is poised to inaugurate a solar panel production line within the next 1-1.5 months, as announced by the Kazakh Ministry of Science and Higher Education, according to a report by Kazinform on February 13.

The initiative entails setting up a 50-megawatt plant to manufacture solar panels utilizing heterojunction with intrinsic thin layer and passivated emitter rear cell technologies.

Satbayev University's Institute of Physics and Technology, in partnership with Techno-Group Service, is leading the project to produce solar modules based on heterostructure solar cells.

The project aims to commence industrial assembly of solar modules within the Alatau Special Economic Zone technopark in Almaty.

“The novelty of this project is the optimization and improvement of HIT, and the development of a chemical cleaning process for plates,” the ministry informed.(Source:astanatimes)

The initial production targets aim to release 300 units of solar panels this year, with plans to ramp up significantly to 6,000 units annually by 2025 and 2026. Looking further ahead, production is projected to increase to 30,000 panels per year.

Currently, similar products are only manufactured in China, Germany, and Japan in the global market.
