Kazakhstan Reports Record Ice Cream Production
Kazakhstan recorded a historic increase in ice cream production in June, with output reaching nearly 20,100 tons, more than double the volume produced during the same month last year, according to the Bureau of National Statistics.
The record performance comes amid continued expansion of the country’s dairy industry, with ice cream emerging as one of the fastest-growing product categories in the first half of 2026. Earlier data from the bureau showed that overall dairy production increased by 11.9% during the January-June period, supported by higher output of cheese, butter and ice cream.
June ice cream production rose 116% year-on-year and nearly doubled compared to May. It was also 2.5 times higher than the average June output over the previous five years and exceeded the former monthly record of 10,800 tons, set in July 2016, by 85%.
The strongest growth was recorded in plombir ice cream, with production reaching 10,200 tons. Output of the premium, high-butterfat variety increased 3.6 times compared to June 2025 and nearly tripled from the previous month.
Production of cream ice cream also expanded significantly, rising 75% year-on-year and 57% month-on-month to 7,500 tons. The value of ice cream production reached 24.3 billion tenge (US$45.4 million) in June, approximately doubling compared to both the same period last year and the previous month.
