Kazakhstan to Release Coin Dedicated to Golden Horde Legacy

The National Bank of Kazakhstan announced the release of a new 2,000-tenge collectible coin titled ALTYN ORDA, dedicated to the historical legacy of the Golden Horde, one of the largest states in Eurasia during the 13th–15th centuries.

The coin is being issued as part of the NBK’s Outstanding Events and People series. Information regarding the official start of sales will be published later on the regulator’s official website. According to the National Bank, the initiative is aimed at preserving historical memory and promoting the cultural heritage of the Great Steppe civilization, whose legacy remains closely connected to the development of statehood and cultural identity across Eurasia, including modern Kazakhstan.

The NBK noted that the Golden Horde played a significant role in shaping political, economic, and cultural processes across Eurasia. The state contributed to maintaining trade relations between East and West, supported commerce along the Silk Road, and facilitated the development of a multinational and multi-confessional environment. The period was also characterized by the growth of urban culture, crafts, monetary circulation, and diplomatic relations.

The commemorative coin is made of 925 sterling silver with gold plating. It weighs 62.2 grams and has a diameter of 50 millimeters. The coin was produced in proof quality with a limited mintage of 1,000 pieces and was manufactured by the Kazakhstan Mint.
