Kazakhstan Ranks Among Cheapest in 2025 Cost of Living Index

Kazakhstan placed 114th out of 139 countries in the 2025 global cost of living index, with prices 73.4% lower than in New York, the baseline city. The index, which excludes rent, reflects Kazakhstan’s score of 26.6. Food prices stood at 27.4, restaurant prices at 28, and local purchasing power at 50.8. Rent index was particularly low at 10.5.

Kazakhstan remains cheaper than Armenia, Moldova, and Azerbaijan among CIS peers but costlier than Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Russia.

Despite low costs, inflation reached 10.7% in April. Services rose 15.7%, utilities 15.8%, and communication 17.3%. While average monthly wages increased to 423,100 tenge (US\$825), real wage growth was just 1.2%.
