Kazakhstan is paying tribute to its veterans ahead of May 9th

Kazakhstan has allocated 187 million tenge (US$421,442.27) from local budgets to offer one-time payments to World War II veterans across all regions of the country, as well as in the cities of Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent, ahead of May 9th, as per the Prime Minister’s press service announcement on May 5th.

Under the current social assistance guidelines, the one-time payments issued by May 9th vary across regions in Kazakhstan, contingent on the financial capacities of local budgets and decisions made by maslikhats (local representative bodies).

Following the recommendation of the Kazakh Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, many regions have adopted a unified payment amount in recent years.

Presently, there are 148 WWII veterans residing in Kazakhstan, all of whom receive a monthly special state benefit of 59,072 tenge (US$133.13), irrespective of other forms of social assistance.(Source:astanatimes)
